Photos of Salzburg, Austria

We recently spent four days in Salzburg to catch up with our friends,  Syd and Debi Jones, and enjoy the music festival.  Syd and Debi live in NYC and Denver, Colorado.  Debi sings for the Collegiate Chorale based in New York City, and they were invited to sing with Zubin Mehta and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.  It was great catching up with them.  Debi and the choir did an outstanding job, and Syd enjoyed the liter sized draft beers!

The first three shots were taken at night with a low ISO and a slower shutter speed, hence the water appears to have been slowed down to a blur – a nice effect.  The first two pictures are very similar with one having a little more of the Salzach River banks illuminated at night. The next two pictures were taken on a hill towards the end of the day.  There are some thumbnails pictures at the bottom of the post.  The Salzburg splendor shot was taken with a polarizing filter I borrowed from a friendly Taiwanese professor named Kenny.  Noticing we had the same size lens opening he offered me his filter (my filter never made it into my bag for the trip-oops!).  We chatted about photography while we snapped away.  His wife, Andrea, spent part of her youth living in Vienna.
